MEMS — Acoustic Emission Sensor
Micromechanical acoustic pickup
These micromechanical AE sensors are comparable to accelerometers or vibration sensors in terms of their design, but they are optimised with regard to the measurable mechanical vibration frequencies. These AE sensors are tuned to frequencies in the ultrasonic range. This is done either directly in the design process by defining the geometry or additionally in limited frequency ranges during normal operation by mechanical stiffening, which allows for precise tuning and tolerance compensation with regard to the FKV.

The AE sensor is attached directly to the fibre composite structure. The micromechanical transducer element has an inherent filter to minimise unwanted frequencies. External (electrical) filters are not required. The sensor can be read out via an analogue voltage interface, but also via our CMS.
