SMA-SensOPro

Development of the sensor evaluation unit including software

The aim of SMA-SensOPro is to develop and test a functional, cost-effective sensor system and its integration into FRP with a focus on prosthetics and orthotics. SMA thin films are to be used as a strain-sensitive material.

Elastic and fatigue-resistant SMA strain sensors enable direct load measurement on prosthetic components made of fiber composite materials and make future prostheses lighter, safer and more comfortable. The video shows the status of the technology development of the smart³ project SMASensOPro "Highly elastic thin-film SMA strain sensors for material integration in orthotics and prosthetics".
